LE PASSÉ RÉCENT

The recent past tense is used to describe an action that took place in the very recent past (e.g., I just ate).

The formation of the recent past is simple:

1. Start with the present tense of “venir.”
2. Add the preposition “de.”
3. End with an infinitive.

EXAMPLES

Nous venons de voir un film nul.
We have just seen a lousy film.

Pierre et Angélie viennent de manger du chocolat.
Pierre and Angélie just ate some chocolate.
